Practicing for Inflatopia

To get ready for Inflatopia we all picked a stuff animal to disect. Once disected we used plastic and our stuffed animal parts to make patterns. Once we had our pattern pieces we covered the seems and used a hot iron to melt the edges together. The small pieces were very hard to do.

Mr Dcukie!

Mr Duckie is sad because Bill said I had to cut him up.

Turned his back on me and refused to talk to me.

Mr Duckie quaking up. He's to cute but I have to do what I have to do.

Color Project

For the color project we had to choose a picture and recreate it three times or we could do as a partial of the picture. The 6x6 we used dots we punched from paint samples,  using only one color with various hues. The second was a 12x12 piece of masonite with ripped paper. We were to choose a diferent color and add various amount or black and or white and paint bristol paper. Once dried we ripped paper to create our picture. The last was another 12x12 using tracing paper, tissue paper or velum. For color we were allowed to use any color scheme.

Metaphor

We were given the assignmet to ceate a metaphoric piece of art in the medium of our choice. Mine did not come out as good as I would have liked. Was very fun and colorful. By now I should have learned to go with my original idea and not let anyone's opinion sway me. The overall metaphor was life BUT there were so many others hidden in the piece.

33

For the 33 project we used 3 different tools along with watered down india ink. The tools used were long twin, painbrush, and a pencil. With each tool we heard three different pieces of music. Using the tool and the ink we created a picture by feeling the music.

Once done we used view finders to find good compositions to use for recreations.

111

For the 111 project we were to design 111 different shaped rectangles using only straight lines. After making the 111 rectangles we had to narrow it down to just one and recreate the lines or pick several and incorporate them into one piece.

Rectangle I picked and my original plans.

Bio-Map

For my bio-map I decided to go with the highlights of my life. I seperated this into four seperate sections of my life. The first ring represented my life in Michigan:where I was born, where I was when I was saved, played softball on a league, and started band. The second ring represents when I lived in Florida: the move to Florida, when I turned 16, and when I learned to drive. The thrid ring was a tribute to my graduation from high schooland a move into adulthood and the real world. The fourth circle represents my life in Texas: the move to Texas, engagement, my wedding, the birth of my twins, and my transfer to SHSU. The circles were styrofoam that I painted with melted chocolate. The figures on top of the circles were molded chocolates and stuck on top of circles with tooth picks.

The Artist
Me dressed to match my piece.

I really enjoyed creating this piece. I would have loved to have had more time so I could done the whole bathroom ceiling this way. I picked the ladies bathroom due to this was a feminine piece and also because I didn't think anyone else would pick the bathroom. if I would have had more time I would have been a little more careful with my craftmanship. The color was great, bright orange against the white walls. Really liked how the piece reflected in the mirrors and on the air conditioning vent.
