Bio-Map

For my bio-map I decided to go with the highlights of my life. I seperated this into four seperate sections of my life. The first ring represented my life in Michigan:where I was born, where I was when I was saved, played softball on a league, and started band. The second ring represents when I lived in Florida: the move to Florida, when I turned 16, and when I learned to drive. The thrid ring was a tribute to my graduation from high schooland a move into adulthood and the real world. The fourth circle represents my life in Texas: the move to Texas, engagement, my wedding, the birth of my twins, and my transfer to SHSU. The circles were styrofoam that I painted with melted chocolate. The figures on top of the circles were molded chocolates and stuck on top of circles with tooth picks.

Me dressed to match my piece.

I really enjoyed creating this piece. I would have loved to have had more time so I could done the whole bathroom ceiling this way. I picked the ladies bathroom due to this was a feminine piece and also because I didn't think anyone else would pick the bathroom. if I would have had more time I would have been a little more careful with my craftmanship. The color was great, bright orange against the white walls. Really liked how the piece reflected in the mirrors and on the air conditioning vent.

Photo Assignment

This picture is of Joshua and Danielle my 14 year old twins. It was taken in February of 2010, when they were 13. It was a rare snowey day in Texas and my kids and I took advantage of it. The three of us played in the snow all day long, making snow angels, snowmen and writing in the snow. There was no yellow snow eaten during this time. I keep this photo to remind me of a very fun day we spent as a family with no arguing between my kids. This photo will be viewed by me every day of my life as it is hanging on my wall. When I am sad, stressed or having a bad day, I look at the picture and smile. The picture makes me remember how much I am loved and what great children I have been blessed with. This picture will be viewed long after I am gone as it is a favorite together photo of my children.

This picture of me was taken by my daughter over Spring Break in 2006. My husband was working as an Army contractor in Iraq. I also took the same photo of each of my children. We sent all 3 pictures to my husband to show him what we had been up to and to let him know that even though we were off having fun without him that we loved him very much and that he was always on our minds. This was a very hard time for all 4 of us but it shows that with Love you can get through anything. Of all the pictures the kids and I sent this is one that he said he charished the most with me in it. Will definately remember it in 10 years.

I have no idea who took this pictured. The babies in the picture are very adorable and innocent. Not to mention twins, which pulls at my heart strings. It reminds of the days when mine wee little and depended on me for everything. Days that I miss very much. The photographer could have taken this picture for the parents or it could have been taken for an advertisement. Will I remember it in 10 years...it's possible.

Modular Madness in the Making.

Valerie was marking off spots where everyone was wanting to place their pieces. I knew I needed a place to hang mine but had no idea where. Valerie listed off a few places including the women's bathroom and off we went to check it out. After seeing the square vent on the ceiling between the sinks I knew this was exactly where I wanted my piece. Since all the pieces I was using had very nice curves I liked the idea of keeping it all in a square like the vent. A bit of a contradiction.

I needed a plan of action so grabbed my sketch book and drew a diagram of the layout and took some measurements.

Materials used: Binder coils, hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, scissors, ruler, fishing line, tacks.

Modular Madness!

Getting started was proving to be tricky for me since I am a very representational kind of girl. Some of my ideas were; to use q-tips to create a giant ear, an outhouse out of empty toilet paper rolls. Lucky for me Mr. Bill had a box of plastic binder coils that he donated to me.

Looking at the coils I could picture a city with big sky scrappers or people. To representational. While playing with the coils and seeing if they could hook easily together I accidentally broke a few rings off.

Breaking the rings off gave me many ideas to create other shapes with them.

Some of my designs looked a clunky and had to be ditched.

After creating a few designs with my rings I sketched out a few of my ideas. My ideas all included hanging the shaped from fishing wire. One idea was to hang the strings from a coil that had not been broken. Another was to hang my designs in the middle of squares created by gluing the coils in squares.
